"Adams has an undeniable talent to write dialogues that sounds more natural (and even smarter) than those written by American director Quentin Tarantino"

Q&A:

Dominique, for someone who might only read a headline from your harshest critic and draw hasty conclusions about you or your work, what do you wish film executives and the industry would realize?

“The truth is, my journey into filmmaking is anything but ordinary. When I made my first movie, I didn’t have the luxury of formal education in writing, directing, or editing. I didn’t have a seasoned production team or a substantial budget to lean on. All I had was a dream, a relentless determination to tell a story, and my own hard-earned money to invest. And yet, against all odds, my very first film achieved something extraordinary—it became #1 with over 40 million views on Snagfilms.com, the streaming platform owned by Indiewire.com. (They unfortunately had to shut down at the onset of the pandemic.)

My second film was even more challenging. Due to time constraints, the young producers were only able to shoot half of the script, as we had just one week for the entire production.

Imagine trying to create a coherent, compelling narrative with only half of the material you envisioned. It felt impossible. But I refused to let that stop me. Through sheer grit, creativity, and belief in the story, I completed the movie.

Not only did it make it into theaters—a miracle in itself—but it managed to outperform 35 other films over the past 5 years, all of which had far bigger budgets and professional teams behind them.

"... imagine, for a moment, what I could achieve with the right resources. Picture what I could create with a professional production team, a budget that matches the ambition of the stories I want to tell, and the time to bring them to life with care and precision."

Now, critics may look at my films and point out their flaws. I don’t deny that they exist. But what many fail to see is the miracle behind those films. With self-financed budgets ranging from $15,000 to $30,000 (pocket change in the world of filmmaking) and both projects filmed within 7 days and with teams of (primarily) film students. Despite all of that, I’ve created projects that resonated with audiences, and outperformed expectations.

So I guess what I wish they’d realize is this: My films are not a reflection of my current skillset; they are a testament to my potential.

They show what’s possible when passion, determination, and creativity are pushed to their absolute limits. So imagine, for a moment, what I could achieve with the right resources. Picture what I could create with a professional production team, a budget that matches the ambition of the stories I want to tell, and the time to bring them to life with care and precision.

If I’ve come this far with so little, think about how far I can go with the right support. My past films aren’t the end result of my journey—they are the foundation of what’s to come. They prove that I’m capable of defying odds, overcoming challenges, and delivering something extraordinary, even under the toughest circumstances. And I’m just getting started. “
