Tom & Dom: A Dream, a Dollar, and a Camera

Big dreams. Small budget. That’s all they had.

It all started in 2008, somewhere in the middle of the ocean. Dominique Adams and Tom Broadwell weren’t filmmakers then. They were fitness instructors on a cruise ship, thrown together to run the Spa’s fitness department and share a tiny cabin.

Working, living and working out together. In between workouts and the occasional beer, they talked about everything: life, ambitions, relationships, and the ever-looming question: What comes next?

When their contract ended, Dominique flew to London to visit Tom for a week before returning home to Canada. Tom had already returned home to Leeds before Dominique finished his contract. Since Tom lived hours away from London, he drove down to pick Dominique up and give him a proper tour of his hometown.

Afterward, they made their way back to London, stopping in Manchester along the way before finishing the week in the city. The question of “What do we do now?” kept coming up, hanging between them like an unanswered challenge.

For Dominique, the answer was always clear: Movies.

A lifelong passion. At 13, he was already hammering out screenplays on a typewriter, lost in stories long before he ever stepped onto a ship. He shared his latest idea with Tom, expecting just another conversation.

But then Tom shared something too, a secret dream: Acting.

Dominique’s mind raced. He looked at Tom… The way he carried himself. The way he spoke, calm, collected, effortlessly engaging. Then it clicked.

“Wait a minute… Tom is the character of my story.”

Excited, Dom scribbled a few lines on paper and handed them to Tom and said, “Here, read those lines and MAKE ME believe it.”

BOOM. He nailed it. No hesitation. No second take. It was there, raw, real, undeniable.

That was it. Decision made.

Dom returned home, immersed himself in the script, and worked relentlessly, day and night. Two days and two nights later, the script was complete. With no one willing to invest in an unknown actor and an unproven filmmaker, Tom and Dominique decided to bet everything on themselves. They emptied their bank accounts and put all their faith into their dream.

Their first film, Twisted Seduction, was shot in just one week with a team of film students and a $30K budget of their own money. The film premiered in 2010 at the 14th Annual Fantasia Film Festival and, later, was acquired by Snagfilms (owned by IndieWire).

And yet, against all odds, the film achieved something extraordinary, it became the #1 movie for over five years, amassing over 40 MILLION views.

But their friendship didn’t end there. After Twisted Seduction, Tom visited Dom twice over the years, and Dom visited Tom in his off-grid tiny beach hut in the Philippines. Their bond had only grown stronger. The journey they started together, with a dream and a small budget had transformed their lives.

Without agents or connections, Adams has relentlessly pursued his passion for filmmaking over the years, earning accolades in prestigious screenwriting competitions and striving to turn his love for storytelling into a living.

In 2025, he reaches for the stars and beyond, Adams write an Open Letter to Jeff Bezos and is aiming at nothing less than a James Bond movie and forging a path to revolutionize Hollywood with a dual production strategy to provide different styles of storytelling, captivating a wide range of moviegoers.

Securing a 007 role would transform this story into the kind of legend whispered in Hollywood for decades to come, a tale etched into the very fabric of cinema’s dreams.

This audacious move isn’t just about securing his place amongst the greats, it’s about bringing his very best friend along for the ride, where dreams become reality and legends are born.
